Rathmines Omniplex Cinema
210 Lower Rathmines Road, Dublin 6
The Omniplex in Rathmines is quite a nifty little cinema. It has its own carpark, a McDonald’s and incredible restaurants and bars within a stone’s throw and it’s cheaper than the city centre cinemas. It has 8 screens so it’s never rammed with people so it’s quite nice to drop in for a bit of a fillum. It’s a fairly new cinema so it ticks the boxes for all of the access guidelines.
What has it got?
Seating: In every screen, there is space for 1-3 wheelchairs but there are a number of seats available if you want to hop from your chair into them. I highly recommend this as their chairs are ridiculously comfortable.
Doors: The doors are all wide and easy to open.
Ground: Tiles and carpet.
Stairs: The screens are all upstairs but there is a lift available.
Bathrooms: Large wheelchair bathrooms are beside every gents and ladies. They’re giant, actually.
Spaciousness: Oh, plenty of space.
Helpfulness of Staff: They’re a very sound bunch here and incredibly helpful. If you need help booking a seat to suit your needs, they’ll be all over it for you.
Parking: There is a carpark attached to the cinema and Swan Shopping Centre complex with plenty of wheelchair spots. There is also loads of on street parking in the area with wheelchair spots directly across the road on Leinster Square.
Why did it lose points? It didn’t! This is a really easy-going cinema experience. Some of the city centre cinemas could take a few notes to be honest.
