32 Grand Canal Street Lower, Dublin 2

In Dublin, 3fe is a reliable name for coffee lovers but what you probably didn’t know is that they do an amazing breakfast. How do the words chorizo jam sound to you? Heavenly, non? The Grand Canal joint is quite a busy spot, located near the Facebook and Google Dublin HQs and other big names like Accenture and Air BnB, but if you get in early, knock the coffees and chorizo jams into you at your own pace.

What has it got?

Seating:  The tables are a mix of high (with high stools) and low. All of the seats are benches but it’s easy to move them away if you want to fit your wheelchair in.

Doors:  The front door is quite wide and easy to open.

Ground:  It’s a concrete floor.

Stairs: It’s all flat inside. The front door has a smoothed bump – it probably used to have a small step – and that’s easy to cross.

Bathrooms: Their bathroom technically isn’t a wheelchair bathroom but it fit my wheelchair in. The bathroom is sort of jagged in shape so I can’t give dimensions but my chair is a standard-sized manual wheelchair, measuring approximately 24 inches in width.

Spaciousness: 3fe can get very busy at lunchtime which means that the pathway to the bathroom could be filled with chairs but it’s a simple case of asking people to just pull in their chair a little bit.

Helpfulness of Staff: Super helpful.

Parking: There’s plenty of on-street parking in the area.

Rating: 8/10
Why did it lose points? 3fe lost two points simply because it can be quite busy, meaning that a wheelchair user might have an issue getting a spot at one of the lower tables, and the bathroom may not be suitable for larger wheelchairs. That being said, if you visit just before or after the rush of lunch hour, this will be less on an issue.
